Our Beliefs

OUR Beliefs

At Lake Trail Church, we don’t follow trends; we follow Jesus. We believe that the Bible is not just a book of good advice, but the actual Word of God—our final authority for everything we do as a church and as families.

The Bible: Our Guide

We believe the Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and the roadmap for how we live our lives.

  • We teach the Bible plainly and literally, believing it is just as relevant for Cleburne today as it was when it was written.

God: The Author of Life

We believe in one God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He is holy, all-powerful, all-knowing, and deeply loving. He is sovereign over all things, meaning He is in control of history and our lives.

Jesus Christ: The Hope of the World

Jesus is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He is the only way for us to be reconciled to God. He is coming back again to reign as King.

      The Holy Spirit: Our Help

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation, providing us with the power to live a godly life, understand spiritual truth, and use our gifts to serve others.

Humanity: Created for Purpose, Restored by Grace

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Every person has immense value, dignity, and purpose. However, we are all marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This sin separates us from God and leaves us incapable of saving ourselves.

Salvation: A Gift You Can’t Earn

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith.

          • We believe that once you are truly a child of God through faith, you are kept by His power and are secure in that relationship forever.

The Church: A Family with a Mission

The Church is not a building; it’s a people. We are the “Body of Christ” on earth, called to carry out the mission of Jesus. Our job is to Engage our community, Develop disciples, and Multiply God’s impact. We practice two symbolic acts of obedience:

            • Baptism: A public declaration of our new life in Christ.
            • The Lord’s Supper: A regular time of remembering Jesus’ sacrifice for us.

              The Future: A Promise Kept

God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ. We believe in the resurrection of the dead—those who have trusted in Jesus to eternal life, and those who have not to eternal separation from God.
